About Us
At Little Roots, we provide childcare with a preschool curriculum which allows children to learn through a play-based environment. We want children to develop their creativity through discovery and experimentation without the use of technology. We offer a safe and nurturing environment which allows children to express themselves freely.
Gardening
Gardening with children provides them with skills to help your child's development. Children will enjoy every stage of the process. From planting the seed to see it turn Into a fruit or vegetable. Young children can practice locomotor skills, body management skills and object control skills in the garden.
Gardening is a great sensory activity for them as it allows them to engages all 5 senses.

Gardens can help children begin to work independently as they plant seeds or pick produce. They practice patience as they wait for seeds to sprout and experience the benefit of delayed gratification as they wait for produce to ripen.

Children learn from growing things
Gardening is educational and develops new skills including: ... Understanding– as they learn about cause and effect (for example, plants die without water, weeds compete with plants) Self-confidence – from achieving their goals and enjoying the food they have grown.

Toys
We use wooden toys that are eco friendly and that allow your child to use their own imagination to play. Studies show that imaginative play is CRUCIAL for a child's cognitive ability. Wooden toys do not have electronic parts or voice commands that will instruct your child on what to do.

There are many reasons wooden toys are better (not only for your child, but for the environment as well): They're long-lasting and more durable. They cause less waste than plastic toys. ... The truth is that good quality, eco-friendly wooden toys don't contain PVC, phthalates, or similar chemicals used in plastic toys.

While plastic toys have more features, designs and sound effects, wooden toys force them to open up their imagination and invent new ways of playing with them. It will spark their natural curiosity and help them develop motor skills, problem solving skills, hand eye coordination, social skills and so much more!
